The SIRIM certification process generally includes five main stages: preparation, sample testing, factory audit, review, and post-certification surveillance.
#2. Preparation & Evaluation

Determine if your product is listed under Malaysia’s mandatory certification list, which covers: - Select Certification Scheme:
Choose between two main schemes depending on your business model:
Scheme A (Batch Certification):
Scheme B (Type Approval):
#3. Sample Testing
- Submit product samples to a SIRIM-appointed or recognized testing lab.
- The standard testing cycle takes 4–6 weeks.
- If your product already has a CB Test Report, it can shorten the process and avoid duplicate testing.
#4. Factory Audit (For Scheme B / Type Approval)
- SIRIM auditors will visit the production facility to assess quality consistency and process control.
- Having an existing ISO 9001 Quality Management System can streamline this step.
#5. Review & Certification
- Once testing and audit (if required) are passed, SIRIM conducts a final review and issues the Certificate of Approval (CoA).
- The importer can then use the CoA to apply for the SIRIM Batch Certificate or SIRIM PCS Certificate, followed by purchasing official SIRIM labels to affix to the product.
