Detailed JET Certification Application Process
(1) Product Classification Confirmation
Confirm whether the product falls under the mandatory certification range through the 'Specified Electrical Appliances List' published by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, and, if necessary, commission a professional third-party organization for regulatory interpretation.
(2) Preparation of Technical Documents
Provide documents including circuit diagrams, material lists, test reports (complying with standards such as J60335/J55015), and factory quality control manuals. All technical documents must be in Japanese or bilingual format.
(3) Sample Testing and Factory Inspection
JET certification requires applicants to send samples to its designated laboratories for comprehensive testing, while certification officers conduct on-site inspections of the production factory's quality management system, focusing on incoming material inspection processes and finished product consistency control.
(4) Certification Timeline and Fees
The regular certification cycle is 6-8 months, with fees ranging from 2 million to 8 million yen depending on product complexity. Expedited services can shorten this to 4 months, but an additional 30% rush fee is required.
