Introduction to certification
The Bureau of Standards and Inspection of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan has established a quality management system that is responsible for the legal inspection and testing of products (including electrical products) intended for sale, import or any commercial use in Taiwan. BSMI is the abbreviation of Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan. According to the announcement of Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs, from July 1, 2005, products entering Taiwan should be supervised in two aspects: electromagnetic compatibility and safety regulations. After 2009, energy efficiency requirements for air conditioners and refrigerators were put forward, and they were included in the scope of BSMI control.
The holder of the BSMI certificate must be a local company in Taiwan, and the test report must be issued by a BSMI-accredited laboratory in Taiwan. CCC code, Standard Classification of Commodity of The Republic of China Code, is similar to the international H.S code.
According to different products and certification requirements, BSMI is divided into the following three certification models:
1. Type Approval (TA)
Applicable to electrical and electronic products, EMC Safety is listed. It was implemented on November 1, 2002, replacing the electromagnetic compatibility management system EMC MS. It is suitable for manufacturers who produce a variety of products, and adopts the method of batch inspection, and each customs purchase needs to add an inspection fee. The certificate is valid for 3 years and can be renewed once.
2. Registration of product certification (RPC)
Applicable to electrical and electronic products, EMC Safety is listed. It came into effect on January 1, 1999. It is suitable for manufacturers who produce a single product and need to sell it for a long time, and there is no additional fee for each subsequent customs purchase. An annual fee is applicable annually. The certificate is valid for 3 years and can be renewed once.
3. Declaration of Conformity (DOC)
The customer self-declares and applies to BSMI for payment by himself. It is only applicable to information technology equipment components and products, and is listed in EMC Safety. It came into effect on January 16, 2000. The certificate is valid forever, but may need to be retested due to the age of the standard.
Product range:
The product range is divided according to the certification mode, 3 different certification modes, control different product ranges, the basic TA and PRC controlled products are the same, and the DOC controlled products do not overlap with TA/PRC. Details are as follows:
1. Type Approval (TA)
The control products are consistent with the PRC.
2. Registration of product certification (RPC)
148 types of control are controlled, including electric blankets, fans, air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, water dispensers, dishwashers, electric motors, juicers, water heaters, electric irons, induction cookers, switches, plugs and sockets, wires and cables, textiles, lamps, etc.
3. Declaration of Conformity (DOC)
30 types of control, typewriters, cash registers, electronic calculators, disk drives, cameras/camcorders, USB flash drives/mobile hard disks, optical drives, etc.
Application process
1. Customers prepare samples and materials
2. Engineer check the sample, the material, sample is OK, and the application is submitted to Waltek
3. Waltek submits the samples and materials to the Taiwan cooperative laboratory for testing
4. The laboratory issues a report and submits it to BSMI, and BSMI issues a certificate
Certification mark
The logo can be printed by the manufacturer itself, scaled to scale, printed on the product itself or on the outer packaging or on the tag. Taking R3A001 as an example, R represents the certification mode is RPC, 3 represents the jurisdiction code of the Inspection Bureau, and A001 is the serial code, which is issued by the Inspection Bureau. The identification code can be marked below or to the right of the inspection mark, as shown in the following example:
